Fall is in the hair…with Ombre

We here at CopperTop are always keeping on top of new trends. We attend hair-shows, read all the magazines and probably watch way too much reality TV.  Therefore we are super excited to talk about the hair trend we are obsessed with right now OMBRE. “Ombre” literally means gradation in French, which refers to the dark-to-light fade of color that is used in the technique. Instead of color that starts at the root, darker roots blend into a lightened mid-shaft and end. It’s the technique you see all the celebrity’s rocking on the red carpet and it looks great in real like too. Think of it as the way to get that natural beachy hair without the huge commitment. Because hair is darker at the base, the touch-up is minimal and allows longer times between appointments.  Ombre can be subtle or “dipped” for a more dramatic look as scene on Nicki Minaj. Either way we are obsessed wih the look and you will be too.

Summer 2012 Recap

It’s been an action-packed summer for all of us at the salon, which is why it’s been a while since our last post.  June allowed us to celebrate another amazing year at the salon, and it’s been another great year with a lot of growth.  In March of 2011 Lori and I decided to join the Ouidad family and it’s proven in be one of the best decisions we have made. When I first started doing hair I was introduced to Ouidad and I knew when I opened my own salon I wanted to be apart of something so great. Since we have started guests have traveled from a distance, booked vacations around us, all and all scouted us out to get their certified cut. It’s truly been a blessing and its feels great to be mutually apart of something so brilliant. Sharing the secret to beautiful naturally culry hair never gets old.  Its still a delight for us with each new client to show them just how much they can love their curls!

Also something exciting to share that happened this summer is I got to do a photo-shoot for Women’s First Magazine. It was my first time working a shoot for a national publication, and a terrific experience.  The shoot turned out to be a great birthday gift to myself and something I hope to do more and more.  The publication will be out in October and I will have pictures to follow.  It seems strange to sum up an entire summer in one paragraph. However the girls at the salon have been working and staying busy all summer at the salon with clients. It seemed this summer couldn’t be more eventful which leaves much anticipation for our upcoming “busy season” leading into the holidays.   Again we thank you all for your continued support and will be better with our updates!

2 Years Already…

We here at CopperTop do our best to give back to the community that has given us so much! We are fast approaching our 2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY, and although its been a whirlwind two years the journey keeps getting better. We started out with just me ( Stephanie) and Lori and have now added Krissy into the mix. Although we are smaller than most salons, we make up in customer service for what they have in size. All of us here know not just our own clients names but most everyone’s who walks into the salon. Our men clients are always delighted when we offer then a cold beer, and women the same with a glass of wine. We have your coffee made and ready the way you like it, and remember to ask about the trip you were getting ready for the last time you were in.  We have also had opportunitys to do things that allow us to use our talents to give back. Our first year open we were asked to style the princesses hair for Apple Blossom and this year we were apart of the FireFighters reception. We gave close to $700 or breast cancer and recently Lori raised $240 for  the Cystic Fibrosis foundation. She donated all the money she raised by giving blue hair extensions and the salon matched her donation. We look forward to doing great things in the months to come in both our professional and personal lives. We would like to thank everyone who has stuck by our side on this journey. We are grateful to have your love and support. Thank-you.

Whats new at CopperTop Salon

February has been a great month for those of us at CopperTop Salon. First I would like to highlight Lori Boswell for meeting her retail goal to attend our Chicago hair show trip. Lori  worked hard to meet her goal, and because of this her trip to Chicago will be paid for entirely. Lori has been a stylist for over 13 years and it shows in her work and customer service.  She is one of the most accommodating stylists I have ever met and is always working late or arriving early to meet her clients needs. Lori is a pleasure to work with;  she always has a smile on her face and a great outlook. We also also eagerly awaiting the results of the Stars 2012 hair competition. Both Lori and Stephanie entered the competition and the pictures are nothing short of amazing. The categories include Red Carpet Glamour, Urban Street Wear, and a Makeover Category. Pictures will be posted after we get the results and believe me either way we are proud of our work. I would also like to thank all the people who came out to help us make this shoot possible  especially Chad and Amanda Nicolardi of Captured Raw Photography. Chad is a up and comming photographer who was just amazing to work with!  This husband and wife team made the day run smoothly and went above and beyond what we could of imagined. I was literally brought to tears when Chad showed me the first few shoots he took of my model.  Amanda made all the models feel super comfortable and was an amazing coach directing poses. I can’t wait to work with these two on future projects, and to see what else they are working on. Also on another exciting note thanks to Julie Neapear our work togther on The Conefrey & Beaupre wedding in September was published in A Lowcountry Wedding.  You can check out the work here at  http://alowcountrywed.com/erin-steve-virginia-wedding/ .  Hopefully we will have good news soon, but a least check back in to see the pics from the shoot!

America’s Beauty Show

We are so excited to announce we are going to Chicago for the Midwest Beauty Show. We here at CopperTop Salon know our education is important to continue giving the best to our clients. Last year we traveled to New York for the International Hair Show and our Ouidad training. We took hands on classes for the latest color techniques and learned how to rock out curly hair. We want to continue with that theme in 2012, and that’s why we are changing things up a bit and heading to the windy city. This year we are even going to attend the “Stylist Choice Awards” which announces the winner of products, haircolor, educators and company of the year. We are so excited about our upcoming trip on March, so schedule your appts now to get in before we leave or right when we get back to try out all the new trends.

Dont get your tinsel in a tangle!

For all of you who donated to Curls for a cure – we wanted to say THANKS!  With your help we raised over $700 to donate to those effected by breast cancer.

The Winner of our ladies night give-away was Tracy Riley. She along with four of her friends are going to be treated like queens for an evening. They will all receive massages from  Rita at Exclusively Faces, airbrush makeup, a sassy new style and more! Thanks again Tracy for donating to CURLS FOR A CURE!

For those of you who might be on the naughty list, there is still Hope! Bring in any item to donate to the local animal shelter, and recieve  $1 off each item up to $5. The shelter is always in need of Pine-Sol, bleach, blankets, litter, cat and dog food, garbage bags, and of course pet toys.
